Copying, digitisation and publication services
You can use the Cumbria Archives shop to pay online for copies, digitisation and publication fees. By purchasing through our shop, you will be helping to contribute to the preservation of Cumbria's records for future generations.
Our online shop provides secure electronic payment by debit/credit card. We accept Visa, Visa Electron, MasterCard, Switch, Solo and JCB. We use the Barclaycard's ePDQ secure system to make sure that your payment is safe. Cumbria Archives has no access to your card details. If you experience problems paying with our site try using another browser.
Before you pay using this page you should contact us to agree payment amount and any copyright or media declarations required. Further details are given below.
Our Archive Centres provide a copying service of our holdings. In most cases these will be digital copies provided by us for access purposes. For publication quality copies or for copies of large or fragile items, we will refer you to our Conservation Unit, which provides a high quality digitisation service.
You can buy copies from Cumbria Archives online by using our 'Copies unit' online shopping item.
Before ordering and paying for copies, please follow the procedure below:
1. Discuss your precise requirements with the relevant Cumbria Archive Centre. Cumbria Archives staff will let you know if your copying requirements are feasible and may ask you to complete a copyright declaration/order form (text version 5KB, Word version 67KB, PDF version 94KB). You can return this to us in the body of an email as a text file, or download the Word or PDF versions, complete and send as an attachment. Please insert document reference and description of documents if we have not already done this for you.
2. Cumbria Archives staff will ask you to then pay for your work, and will tell you how many copy units to purchase. This will be a total price to cover any research fee, cost of copies and cost of postage and packing if required.
3. Click 'Add to basket' button below. This will add one unit (each unit costs £15.50 pence) to your shopping basket. Then click on 'Basket' button (top right of order screen) to proceed to the summary page. Please type in the total number of units needed to meet your order and press 'Update'. Please also ensure you select the correct postal region (UK, Europe or Rest of the World). This is for card payment purposes only. We will not make any additional postage charge. Then click 'Finish and Pay for items'.
Please note: copies supplied using this order form are for private or non-commercial research only and cannot be published without obtaining copyright clearance and paying the appropriate reproduction fee to Cumbria Archives. Publishing includes reproducing material obtained from our holdings on the internet, in a book or periodical, in an exhibition, and broadcast on television or radio.
Cumbria Archives allows publication and media use of our holdings for local, national or international use on payment of the appropriate fees. Before ordering and paying for any commercial publication fees, please follow the procedure below:
1. Discuss your precise requirements with the relevant Cumbria Archive Centre or with our Conservation Unit.
2. Cumbria Archives staff will ask you to complete any agreements and and will ask you to purchase the appropriate number of payment units.
3. Click 'Add to basket' button below. This will add one unit (each unit costs £25) to your shopping basket. Then click on 'Basket' button (top right of order screen) to proceed to the summary page. If you need more than one unit, please type in the total number of units needed to meet your order and press 'Update'. Please also ensure you select the correct postal region (UK, Europe or Rest of the World). This is for card payment purposes only. We will not make any additional postage charge. Then click 'Finish and Pay for items'.
Cumbria Archives can host talks and visits by groups at its Archive Centres by arrangement, subject to availability.

Cumbria Archives can arrange talks to groups about its services at external venues by arrangement, subject to availability.
